We do not have to join the ranks of non-thinkers.

I don't actually believe that it is possible to not think. Sitting at the top of our heads is a supercomputer. Actually, that is not a good description of our brain. To compare the brain to a computer is similar to comparing a horse to a car. The horse is self-existent. It lives without external stimuli. Within it, somehow, there is all the information it needs to carry on its daily life. The car needs stimuli. It needs someone to start it, drive it, and maintain it. It can do none of this on its own. Even though it is a bit slower, the horse is a far superior machine, able to think and apply instinct in difficult situations. Without a thinking driver, the car is scrap metal.

Our brains are way beyond our imagination in capacity and makeup. That sounds paradoxical, but consider the science. The brain is made up of 4 lobes, not less than 4 areas, and the stem. Each of these have very specific functions in the human machine. It is truly an incredible design, definitely an intelligent design. There is a fascinating, easy to understand article on brain anatomy here.

For this article, we are interested in the frontal lobe. According to the Mayfield Clinic article cited above, the following functions take place in the frontal lobe:
